A S C E N D - a summit of body, soul, mind, & strength toward Christ-centered living!

Key Passage: “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” –Col. 3:1-2

A S C E N D: Body- “You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple.” -1 Cor 3:16-17

A S C E N D: Soul- “Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it.” -Heb. 12

A S C E N D: Mind - “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” -Rom. 12: 2

A S C E N D: Strength – “But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.” -Isaiah 40:31

10 Things

Here’s a list of ten things you can do to participate in the Revolution at Lakeside. How are you doing with some of them? A number of you helped us out with the REVEAL spiritual life survey –are you reading through the Scriptures? What about deepening your prayer life? Perhaps you’ve identified a few people that you’re praying for now, that you’ll have an opportunity to invite them to one of our gatherings. We hope that these 10 things challenge and stretch you toward Christ-centered living!

1. Be Christ-centered.

2. Read your bible.

3. Deepen your prayer life.

4. Connect with 5 who need Jesus.

5. Let go of the past; move forward.

6. Be a contributor not a consumer.

7. Join a Life Group.

8. Take the REVEAL study.

9. Love God, His World, & His Work.

10. Anticipate the movement of God!

ChurchNext: Endless Possibilities!

The next teaching series related to our Revolution 2010 vision for Lakeside begins Sunday, 28 Feb and is titled “ChurchNext: Endless Possibilities!” Just what is it that we hope the Revolution will bring? We’re centered on Jesus, on a spiritual journey of faith and love. With a ‘holy discontent,’ we’re growing in a fresh passion to help people in our area to find Jesus as their Savior, and we’re celebrating what God has done in our past with an excitement about the future.

Re-fill! Re-align! Re-commit! and Re-imagine! The possibilities are endless!

What’s “Reveal?”

Because we want all who come to Lakeside to become Christ-centered followers, your spiritual growth is really important to us. Whether you’re just starting to explore the Christian faith, or you’re a long-time Christ-follower, we want to do everything we can to help you on your spiritual journey.

At Lakeside, we want to do everything we can to support your spiritual growth. We want to know what’s helping you grow spiritually, and what’s getting in the way.

So we’re asking you to set aside 30 – 35 minutes later this month to take our Spiritual Life Survey. The survey will “reveal” findings that will help shape our decisions about how to create the best possible ministry strategies to serve you and the rest of our church family.

We know you are very busy. But this is very important. Please watch for the link we’ll send to you, log on, and have fun!
